The Slow and Steady Journey

Finding Inspiration in Recovery, Tarot and Art.

The Turtle in the Ink Stain

She appeared from an ink stain on A2 paper. I grabbed my Posca and watercolour pens and outlined the shape of the turtle. The background is blue with oil pastels, and she is glowing with primary colours.

The turtle is an ancient creature that moves slow.

I am moving slow these days, having had knee surgery 6 weeks ago.

I drew the Six of Pentacles this morning, a card of balance, of what goes around comes around, a card of karma.

I use tarot as a tool for self-reflection. It is useful in my artwork sometimes, and the slowness of my days can go a long way with a little setting of things

I had the Sun two days in a row, and the Hierophant when asking about a particular relationship.

Pinch, Punch!

First of the month,

And no return!

"Polyphonies" (Paul Klee inspiration)

O Pink World

This piece began as a simple horizon line and evolved into an intricate, dreamlike landscape. Each colour and form was guided by intuition, resulting in a vibrant, surreal world that unfolded over a week and a half. It’s a mix of structured patterns and fluid, organic shapes, reflecting the tension and harmony of different creative forces. No specific idea led the way—just my pen, following its own path.

This artwork depicts two figures holding hands, journeying through a mysterious, wild cemetery. The swirling reds and greens represent the chaotic, untamed nature of the cemetery, symbolizing a blend of life, death, and the passage of time. The stark contrast between the dark silhouettes of the figures and the vibrant colors beneath them creates a powerful tension, suggesting they are navigating both physical and emotional landscapes. The piece evokes themes of companionship, mortality, and the journey through the unknown, making it haunting, thought-provoking, and deeply symbolic.

First day of my birthday month. I'll be turning 32 in a few weeks.

Bit lost, bit slow, bit down.

But it'll be alright, right?

Smoking down the wild cemetery.

Slowly but surely, Lula Sailor
